Budapest Pre-Wedding Party on Danube Cruise

Pre-wedding Danube cruise at downtown Budapest.

Budapest Pre-Wedding Party on Danube Cruise It was a crazy 3-day wedding weekend for me, and definitely one of the hottest in the recent years. Pre-wedding parties are always a great way to ease everyone into a destination wedding. Ewelina and David surprised their guest and kicked off their week-long wedding celebrations with a Danube pre-wedding boat party around downtown of Budapest. Their super nice guests made their way to the weekend long fiesta from Chicago, New York, and London. You can’t ask for a better start of your stay than enjoying the wonderful view of Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion, Parlament of Hungary, passing right under the historical Chain Bridge, Liberty Bridge, Elisabeth Bridge, and having a delicious dinner on board. Photographer of the Year Nominee

Photographer of the year Hungarian Wedding Gala Nominee 2022

Photographer of the Year – Nominee I’ve just received an email from the Hungarian Wedding Gala and Awards, that I’ve been nominated for the Photographer of the Year in 2022! I won many awards throughout my career, both at national and international wedding photography competitions, but this is the first time I didn’t entered into, but was selected by the members of Hungarian Wedding Award Academy. The nomination is based on cooperativeness and accomplishment, therefore it’s really something special for me. Strictly speaking I don’t feel any desire winning this award, since the nomination itself represents my appreciation of the industry, hence I feel I already won. The winners will be revealed in a few days at the already sold out Hungarian Wedding Gala. Thanks for the love! Hungarian Wedding Gala & Award

All-white styled shooting at Kozmo Luxury Hotel

Luxury wedding Budapest.

All-white themed styled shooting at Kozmo Luxury Hotel Intimate elopement at a secret gem of Budapest If you were to ask me a couple years ago if I’d photograph a styled shoot, the answer would have been no. Since I’m addicted shooting real couples at real weddings, I wouldn’t have felt myself comfortable in a carefully planned and controlled session. I was proud that my future clients often highlighted my full of life portfolio in contrast to other wedding photographers, who use photos from the styled shoot to convince couples of the quality of their work, at the same time they are lack of quality real moments from a wedding day. Ultimately I changed my mind, and sought potential to test myself in a whole new situation. Well, thats right! I was asked to take part in an all-white themed styled shooting, which took place at Kozmo Luxury Hotel, Budapest. The stakes were high just as on a real wedding day, since many talented vendors put their best work into it. This venue was honestly one of the most stunning places to shoot: it’s imposing grand staircase, the presidential suite with it’s exceptional terrace, the arts and paintings all over the building. The monumental building (once was known for being home to the largest telecommunications centre in Eastern and Central Europe at the beginning of the 20th century) has kept it’s original elements. We had a rough start due to some delay in the schedule, so the outdoor shooting took place at noon in the harshest sunlight. Safe to say its the photographers nightmare scenario, especially when it comes to the portraits. However as a team of professionals we overcame adversity and got the job done. 2021 A Year in Review

2021 A Year in Review Once again, this year was such a rollercoaster. The wedding season kicked off later than usual due to the pandemic, but without except all weddings were filled with tremendous amount of joy and respect. This one minute highlight reel is nothing but a small sneak peak, a small selection of my personal favourites. Can’t wait to see my fantastic couples next year, let’s create something beauty and valuable together!

Judging international wedding photography contests

Armenian bride and Latvian groom photo session at Fishermans Bastion, Budapest.

Judging international contests I recently had the honour to judge three different international wedding photography contests. I’ve been asked to judge Collection 62 at Fearless Photographers, the final round at Bride Association, and the annual contest at Fotografi-Cameramani. Selecting and evaluating the best wedding photos was a personal journey. Exceptionally high quality made the competition difficult to judge. It was a great experience and I hit a huge learning curve.  An awesome photo involves, stimulates and provokes a range of feelings, reflections and memories. It identifies its subjects characters’ and their relationships. These essential aspects of photography make an image timeless. Photography is incredibly subjective. Judging the round was very illuminating for me. I began to imagine what it might feel like for a bride looking at portfolios around the web. I was deluged with so many photographs, many of them quite good. But after a while, cliches became more cliche, odd compositions became awkward, and funky editing quickly became overwhelming. The majority of these images showed small silhouettes without any apparent connection or emotional arc.

Agnes & Alex sameday slide show

Agnes & Alex Same day Slideshow It’s only been a few hours since Agnes and Alex destination wedding at Liszkay Vineyards, and my heart is still there. It was a particularly important wedding for me, there’s a long-standing friendship between the bride’s family and me. This is one of the reasons I agreed to make the same day slideshow in the absence of a second photographer. The main consideration when choosing music was how I could make the slideshow more personal, breaking the dominance of wedding hits played to boredom. For a more powerful impact, I didn’t ask what kind of music they prefer, so after a quick profiling on social media I managed to find the perfect background music from band Muse.  https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/587403182 Dear Agnes and Alex, thank your for the hugs right after the screening!

Mobilephones and weddings

Phones at weddings A couple of weeks ago, due to an unfortunate move, I was forced to replace my old phone with a new one. I take a lot of photos with my mobile, so the larger storage space and the state-of-the-art built-in camera comes in handy. Not one, but three! Nowadays, I only bring my professional gear to work, I don’t even make travel with it anymore, less luggage, less weight, less stress. Phones are being equipped with better and better cameras year after year have made the photography experience available to everyone. I could put it this way: by now, in a sense, everyone is a photographer. As in professional forums, in the same way when organizing a wedding, the topic comes up: guests with a camera on wedding day.  Some professionals often compain that important events like ceremony, first dance, cake cutting,  were ruined by the guests with a phone. I honestly never understood such outbursts. If it bothers you, it should be resolved. After all, that’s why the couples hire us, professionals. At ideal circumstances, an avid amateur can meet expectations, taking nice photos. But when it’s not the case, a little creativity and extra movement can do magic. The difference is a few seconds and steps between the two photos. The phone version won a Reportage award. I don’t think we can restrict guests from creating their own memories. It is my job to get around or even take advantage of a situation like that. During planning, the you may opt for an unplugged ceremony. This is especially recommended if you don’t want hundreds of congratulations on a social media post in the morning because a guest has tagged you. Not to mention that it devalues the professional highlights that may come out later. When asked how I relate to phones at weddings, I can’t express how happy I am with it. Now that there is a gadget in almost everyone’s pocket capable to take amazingly high quality pictures with a single touch, it sheds light on the misconception that a good photo requires only a good camera and the better the camera is the better the photo. At the end of the day my work is getting more and more appreciated.

Secret Stories – Recommended Vendor

I’m a Secret Stories Recommended Vendor “…Finding the perfect wedding dress is an important challenge in a woman’s life. A wedding attire has something completely different to say than a casual set. Brides are not meant to be seen as purposeful, strong, smart women, a single token floating before their eyes: they want to be beautiful.”   Benes Anitathe founder of  Daalarna Secret Stories is Daalarna Couture‘s own wedding site, currently the most visited wedding magazine in Hungary. It’s a great honor to have a place among the many excellent vendors on the recommending interface of the recently launched wedding service provider Secret Stories by Daalarna. The real feedback for me is that what I do in Hungary has a raison d’être in the high-end segment. In addition to many of my weddings, you can read several interviews on Hungary’s leading wedding blog.
